ClimateStudio Reaches 300 Schools

In 2008, Solemma started as part of a summer school project at Harvard's Graduate School of Design (GSD). Our goal was to develop a suite of CAD-integrated tools for performing validated environmental analysis that was powerful enough for expert analysis yet intuitive enough for academic and student use. From our legacy software DIVA-for-Rhino to our flagship software ClimateStudio, schools have played a fundamental role in the development and innovation of our software and company.

We’re delighted to announce that over 300 member educational institutions are now teaching and researching with ClimateStudio as part of our Educational Ambassador Program. Since the release of ClimateStudio in 2020, we have provided free, site-wide ClimateStudio licenses to educational and research institutions around the world, each indicated by a blue point on the map below. We work with faculty ambassadors to provide them with ClimateStudio licenses and learning materials that they can share with their students, fellow teachers, and researchers.

We also provide faculty and student access to our educational support system for questions related to the software. If you are interested in becoming a Faculty Ambassador at your institution, please email us at education@solemma.com using your institutional email address.

Expanding ClimateStudio’s Educational Licensing Program

We hold an annual full-day event called the Solemma Symposium (formerly known as DIVA Day) where we invite our colleagues, customers, and industry experts for a discussion on the current state of environmental analysis tools used in design practice, research, and education. It is our hope to expand this event and host an Education Summit during the Summer of 2022 centered around bringing faculty ambassadors together to contribute and share innovative teaching approaches, exercises, and/or student work. More details are to come.

In conjunction with the Education Summit, we would like to inaugurate an educational database and portal for educators using ClimateStudio to share and access learning materials. We understand that there are barriers to access around our video tutorials and company materials such as language or experience level, which is why we want to help organize and manage a ClimateStudio learning platform.

If you have some materials you would like to share with us now, please email us at education@solemma.com. For examples of previous presentations and projects shared at Solemma Symposiums, please click on the links below.
