ClimateStudio Partners with Solatube

We are thrilled to announce ClimateStudio’s partnership with Solatube International Inc., the worldwide leading manufacturer of Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs). As a result of the collaboration, Solatube products can now be simulated using ClimateStudio’s fast and accurate workflows – which help architects design for daylight, visual comfort, and the achievement of green-building credits.

“With the integration of Solatube’s advanced optical Daylighting Systems into the remarkable ClimateStudio analysis tool, design professionals can quickly and easily model the benefits of using Solatube Tubular Daylighting Devices to capture, transfer and deliver controlled daylight to artfully illuminate nearly any interior space,” says Neall Digert, Ph.D., MIES, vice president of Solatube International. “Now architects, engineers and construction professionals are able to quickly evaluate and refine effective daylighting solutions that provide outstanding, and groundbreaking annual daylighting performance for energy-savings and occupant health and wellbeing.”

How the Innovation Works

Solatube TDDs harvest daylight at rooftop collectors and distribute it along highly reflective tubes to ceiling diffusers, permitting even distribution to interior spaces. To simulate this behavior, ClimateStudio uses measured data from the manufacturer, along with a custom version of the validated light ray tracing engine Radiance.
